If you are just removing the pulley, Then just remove the bolts that hold it on being sure to remove the bolt that is in the middle of the pulley too. Then take a hammer and knock it off.
No
the center bolt is for the harmonic balancer , aka , vibration damper or torsional damper . the torque specs. i have are 1985 and before 60 ft-lbs , 1986 to 1995 70 ft-lbs , 1996 and later 74 ft-lbs . can't find any specs. for the pulley bolts .
To do this job correctly the engine oil pan should be removed, this job alone will be a challenge if you are doing this in your driveway. You will also need the correct puller to remove the damper (bottom pulley). The belts, fan, shroud, pulleys, damper and water pump need to be removed.
60 ( ft. lbs )
the block & heads are the same you just have to pull the 305 out & put the 350 back in
crank pulley.
Pull the motor or pull the transmission, one of them has to come out.
n way around it you have to pull the radiator to get the puller on the pulley
It depends if you have enough doom to pull oil pan out if not you have to pull motor
perhaps crank pulley has slipped from original position
Cut a piece of threaded rod about 4 inches long that matches the threads in the front of the crank. Start the damper onto the crank with a few gentle taps with a soft face mallet. Thread the rod into the crank as far as it will go by hand. Add a few heavy duty flat washers on to the rod that are wider than the hole in the damper then start a nut on to it. Using an air impact gun (if possible) tighten the nut down as the damper is pulled in. Draw it in until the damper is bottomed out. Remove the nut, washers and threaded rod then install the correct original bolt.
pull the cam and lifters
