A small two-jaw or three-jaw gear puller works fine.
You need to use a gear puller, as it is a press on, taper fit.
the mark on the camshaft timing gear needs to line up with the mark on the crankshaft timing gear to ensure the camshaft is in proper time with the crankshaft. Keep in mind that the marks will only line-up every other revolution of the engine due to the crankshaft spinning twice as fast as the camshaft.
The dot on crankshaft at 12 o'clock and dot on cam gear at 6 o'clock the centerline of crankshaft, dots on gears, and centerline of camshaft should all be inline.

The crankshaft position sensor is located behind the timing cover and above the crankshaft gear. the timing belt my have to be removed to access the bolts on the sensor.
Once you reach 100K you're running on or at the limit of life expectancy of the timing chain, chain tension-er, cam chain gear and crankshaft chain gear. All four should be replaced as a set. You will also need to replace timing cover gasket and the crankshaft front cover seal. Cost of parts < $75.00 but not an easy job.
More than likely, there will be a dot on the gear on the crankshaft, and on the timing gear, and you just need to make sure that they line up.
The crankshaft is located behind the crank gear close to the timing zone. If you decide to change your crankshaft make sure you also examine your timing belt as well as water pump.
