Pull the cocking piece back and rotate clockwise. The small knob on it will fit into a 2nd shallow notch on the bolt assembly.

A while back there was a long action version of the Savage Model 12 (I think it was the 112BVSS) that was chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. The last I ever really heard of them was back in the late 1990s. I've not seen anything about it since then. For now the only manufacturer that makes a bull barrel 7mm Remington Magnum is Remington, their Sendero line, as a matter of fact.

That's all holding it together just wiggle it some more, sometimes they are tight. IF however you cock it and the breach comes (falls) out your be back looking for how to put it in ;) It's a little tricky but it just just drop back in working the slide.

Did Remington make the 7600 model before 1968?
No mate. 7600's first came out in the early 80's, 1981 I believe. Prior to that was the model 760, which is like the older sister of the 7600 and was first catalogued around 1952 I believe. Remington made pump rifles in different models way back to about the time of WWI.
