you need to find which pulley is the tension pully. this pully will move with a tool and allow the install of the belt.NOTE:if the belt came off, it is either streched and needs replacing,or one of the pulley wheels is damaged and needs replacing.usually this would be the tension pulley.
Hi i have an 84 delta 88 and am trying to tighten the power steering belt as well,I noticed that one bolt for it is through the pully and another behind the pump on the bottem side.I cant seem to break the bottem one loose so im not sure if that's all the bolts or not I will let you know when i get it,Thanks Bill
Back-off the lock-nut, turn the bolt in (clockwise) about 1/4 turn, then tighten the lock nut again. Test the steering. Repeat if necessary. If overtightening results in hard steering (even slightly) then back-off the screw a little.
Steering is "way too stiff" where is adjustment located and how do I proceed. Thanks...Ron
1952 chevy truck does not have a steering damper, where and how to mount steering damper on my 1952 chevy truck .thanks jim
This is for a Golf III Gti but i assume they're all similar. The PS pump is under the alternator. Looking from the front, work out how the bracket holds the pump, There are two 13mm bolts on the right hand side to loosen. Underneath the alternator, on the left, there is a 16mm bolt to loosen. Finally, there is another 13mm bolt on the left which goes into a bigger bolt - something like a 22 or 23mm. Loosen this 13mm bolt and then put the big socket on the bigger bolt and turn - presto, the pump rotates and tightens or slackens the belt. Tighten it so there is slight play in the belt, not rigid then tighten all the bolts you loosened.
Specifically, where and what do I do to tension either belt? Thanks!
Does the 2007 Hyundai Elantra have a power steering pump? How do I check the fluid level? How often should it be replaced? Thanks.
behind the steering wheel
you need to go to a junk yard or somewhere like that and get a new steering box and replace it on the gear box there should be a nut and a screw loosen the nut and turn the screw clockwise about a quarter of a turn each time and tighten the nut check your play in the steering wheel it might take a little while but it will take the play out all vehicles have this you don't have to go but a other steering gear box there is a screw and a nut on the gear box loosen the nut and turn the screw clockwise about a quater of a turn tighten the nut and check the play if there is still to much repeat the process that will take your play away
