This is a very difficult task that I usually send to the shop to have done. But if you still want to do it yourself, here are a few tips:

-Notice how the ends of the spring are shaped. Usually there are two hooks or loops that will cause the middle to hook to the spool, and the outside to catch the case.

-Place the outside hook into place and start winding. This is the tricky part. The spring will want to violently unwind and it can catch you off guard, so WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. Use everything you can find to hold it in place. I have used all sorts of pliers, locking pliers, clamps and more to aid the process. You want to end up with the spring wound into a tight coil into the case.

-Once the spring is in place, hook the spool on the other end and CAREFULLY settle it into place.

-Install any retaining bolts/clips and you're ready to install the string!

Note: Every spring/spool is different, so some are easy to install and others are close to impossible. Give it a shot and decide if it's something you can complete. Overall, be safe and watch out for the spring unwinding during the whole process.

How do you put a zero turn mower with hydro braking system into neutral in order to push it up a hill after it has broken down and will not start?

With the zero turn mower with hydro braking, a person will have to have one person sit on the mower and push in the clutch and shift the mower into neutral. The mower will have to be pulled uphill with another vehicle, not pushed. Do not put in neutral until a taut line is extended to the towing vehicle.

How do you know if your push mower engine is locked up?

Remove the spark plug and try to pull start it. With the spark plug out try to manually rotate the blade. If the blade rotates, the mower is not locked up. It is possible there is something wrong with the recoil starter. Sometimes the float in the carburetor gets stuck open and gas will fill the cylinder, this will not allow you to pull the starting rope. With the spark plug removed pull the starting rope hard this will push out any excess fuel in the cylinder. Put the spark plug back in and try to start it.

How do you put deck belt on huskee lt 4200 lawn mower?

How do I put the pull rope to start the weed eater lawn mower back in it and reconnect it it came out?

take the recoil off the weedeater, turn the part that holds the rope (it's the round wheel looking thing, usually white) until the hole lines up with the recoil hole. Turn it in the direction of the spring tensioning not unwinding, push your rope thru both holes and pull it up and out the hole on the top side of the wheel and tie a knot of the end and then push it back into the holding area using a small screwdriver or similiar, then you will see a notch in that wheel. Pull a portion of the rope up thru that notch (leaving most of it hanging out) and turn the wheel until the spring tightens all the way, It will twist your rope while your doing that, but just unwind it as needed, after the spring is as tight as in can be, let go of your rope. Make sure you have the pull handle in place!!!! If you don't already have the handle on, let it recoil slowly and when all the rope is inside, pull some back out and install your handle. Make sure to have some tension on it if you want it to hold up staight and not hang down/loose.

How do you put a buffer spring in a Winchester Model 290?

By 'buffer spring' I assume you mean the recoil spring that drives the bolt forward. Remove the inner magazine tube. Using a nylon punch, drive out the crosspin that retains the trigger guard and move the rear of the triggerguard downward and rearward to remove the assembly. With the gun upside down, pull the bolt rearward enough to tip it up at the front which will release the operating handle. Remove the bolt upward, and you will have also removed the old recoil spring. Reassemble in reverse order.

How do you fix pull cord on craftsman 3600 Briggs and stratton generator?

Remove the recoil then if the spring is not broken you tighten the spring (you are looking at the inside of the recoil you turn it clock wise until it is tight) line the wholes for the rope up then clamp so it won't move take a wire and hook the roap threw tie the not in the end of the make sure you have enough roap. Then put handle on the roap tie the not in the roap to hold the handle. Then unclamp the recoil and if all was done right it should work then reinstall. Hope this helps.
