∙ 13y agoYou have to be plugged into the wireless router with a cat 5 or car 6 cable, then go to network preferences, setup new network, and follow the instructions. Some routers require the disk that came with them.

∙ 8y agoYou can change your WiFi password through your router settings. Open a command prompt and in it type "ipconfig/all" without quotes and press enter. Take your DNS IP and put it in a URL bar and press enter. You will arrive at a login screen for your router. Simply login and on the left sidebar hit "Change Password". Each router company will have a different looking settings display.

∙ 11y agoLook in your routers documentation for security settings. You want to turn on something called WAP. You put a "key" on the router and the same "key" on your PC, then only equipment with the key value you set will be able to access your wireless connection.
I recommend that you write the key down and tape to it to the bottom of the router or something. some more steps involved to give the internet set up to your PC or laptops...
Step 1Click "Start," open the "Control Panel," click "Network and Internet Connections" and click on "Network Connections."
Step 2Open the Network Setup Wizard.
Step 3Enter in the details about your home network when prompted, including your network's name, type (wired or wireless), manner of Internet connection and Internet authentication information.
Step 4Open your Internet browser and type in the access address for your router. This is typically something like "http://192.168.1.1" and is normally listed on the bottom of your router.
Step 5Enter in your router's username and password.
Step 6Click on the "Security" tab. Click on the option to use password protection and input in your desired network password.
Step 7Reboot the computer to save changes.
