the folder is hkey_local machine_\system\wpa\
encryption key?
I already know that WiFi passwords are stored in encrypted format in this folder (one long address)
c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\
Wlansvc\Profiles\Interfaces
\[Interface Guid]
but an encrypted file doesn't do any good if I don't have an encryption key... Note that the value of "protected" is "true" so I KNOW my pass is encrypted in that xls file.
Please don't tell me to go to control panel or use any of the WIFI password programs because none of them work! And yes; I have checked out WirelessKeyView, the routers address [the security center part] and the Network Sharing Center!
Please improve upon this "answer!"
if you want to password protect folders on your computer you can use a password protection software, saying Kakasoft Advanced Folder Encryption(http://www.kakasoft.com/folder-encryption),open it and set password to protect you data easily.
C:\Windows\system32\restore, C:\Windows\registry\backup, C:\Windows\system32, C:\Windows\registry, C:\Windows\system32\config, C:\Windows\system32\config\RegBack
C:/System Volume Information.
Set up in security settings of folder only your account, in this way you will be able to open your folder(s). At first you have to set a password on your Windows account, then you can encrypt the folder by using Encrypting File System. To set a password on your Windows account, click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen and select Control Panel > User Account. If there is only one account on your computer, create a guest account for other users who use your computer and then set a password on your account. To encrypt the folder, right-click it in the right pane of Windows Explorer and select Properties. Under the General tab, click the Advanced button and then select the Encrypt contents check box.
Many times Explorer will remove or disable the Folder Option in Tools but there is a way to deal with it. If Folder Options is disabled but Registry Editor is still working in your system, then you can enable Folder Options by editing Windows Registry.
Windows vista and 7 %system root%/system32/config/ ie: C:\system32\config

There isn't one. According to the creator: OK, alot of you have asked, and no, there isn't a correct password for the Windows folder. Just so you know.
It is stored in the C:/windows/system32/config. The hive you want is located under its name.
c:\windows\system32\config\regback
Convert the volume to NTFS
In my opinion, you need a tool. There are a lot of good password protection tools. You can search "password protect folder" or "lock folder" etc. to find a proper one for yourself. Usually there are two types of encryption methods: 1. Create one password for whole your disk and drag all folders and files to this disk to protect them. This only asks you to set one password for all of them. But if you want to set separate passwords to protect different folder or files, this kind of software will not help you. 2. Create one password for every folder. You can drag files to one folder and set a password for this folder. This will fix the above trouble, that you can set uniform password for different kinds of files. The disadvantage is you must remember a list of passwords.
