I don't think this is something you can get here. I recommend you search the internet for the service manual. It costs about $50-$100 if you can find one but it is worth it. I have not done it but I think this is a very involved process. You basically need to pull the engine out and remove everything. You then take the block and head to a an engine shop to get it cleaned, milled and bored. A better alternative may be to purchase a rebuilt engine and have someone put it in for you.

Go to http://autos.msn.com/ and put in geo/prizm... then look up the year of the prizm...1996... click on features and specs. Scroll down, and you'll find the horsepower of a 1.6 liter 1996 geo prizm. I found it to be 100 horsepower.
