parts stores have a new kit called "A/C for dummies" and includes a book and freon... enjoy also Everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and a professional shop manual should be available at your local library, just make copies of the right pages, as they are usually REFERENCE only...read up and good luck :)
It will have to go to a garage with the correct equipment to evacuate the system and then recharge it, its not possible to do this at home.Hope this helps

How do you recharge the AC in a 2006 Jeep Liberty? I can't find the port.

A 1998 Jeep uses R134a.
Have a AC shop test the AC system pressure
The system probably needs a recharge.
Have a shop check the AC system pressure
I paid $350 at Canadian Tire to fix the A/C in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport.

run motor and set A/C on max, blower on full, pull a vacuum on the system and recharge with R12a 2.9Lbs
It is between the radiator and the grill.
On the dash, near the ac control.
The AC compressor on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee can be repaired by purchasing a new unit or by sending the existing unit off for repairs. These are sealed units which do not have user serviceable parts beyond the outer seals.
That is the vacuum supply for the HVAC control.
