Pry up on the tensioner pulley.
Somewhere between the other pulleys.
You don't loosen it, you pry it back to remove tension.
how do i change the alternator in my 2001 ford focus?
To loosen the belt tension on a 2000 Ford Focus, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the serpentine belt tensioner, which is typically a spring-loaded pulley. Use a wrench or ratchet to rotate the tensioner away from the belt, relieving tension. Once the tension is released, you can remove the belt or adjust it as needed.
does it have a belt driven alternator ? you might be able to run it off the alternator like the jetta diesels do or any diesel for that matter but you may have to resize the alternator pulley to fine tune the readout. bosch alternators are used by vw but it gonna cost $$$. hope this helps
You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library with the right info...make copies as they are usually only in the REFERENCE section....good luck:)
yes
To remove the serpentine belt on a 2004 Ford Focus, first, locate the belt tensioner, which is usually near the center of the engine. Use a wrench or a socket to turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise, relieving tension on the belt. While holding the tensioner, slide the belt off the pulleys, and then carefully release the tensioner. Finally, remove the belt completely from the engine compartment.
The alternator is on the passenger side and between the engine and the compartment wall.
It works much more effectively, and with greater dedication, focus, and commitment, than an ailing pulley does.
