Several different styles of caps have been used on Boyds wheels. Boyds covered lug billet styles generally had a 3-inch hex cap that screwed on and secured a separate flange. They made a special wrench to remove the hex cap, or you could use a large adjustable wrench. Covered lug cast style caps look similar, but are held on by a single bolt, you would see a Phillips screw head on the outside of the cap. Later covered lug wheels produced under B.Coddington or Boyd Coddington had an oval recess where the logo was placed. They made an oval shape hex adapter that fit into the recess and allowed you to use a standard wrench or socket to remove the cap. Exposed lug styles usually have caps held on with an o-ring. You knock the cap out by hitting it from the back side of the wheel using a mallet.
