put a wrench on the idler pulley and crank it counter clockwise. that'll slack the belt enough for you to pull it off. make sure you are able to route the new one properly either by making a diagram or finding the oem diagram near the radiator. btw way the idler pulley is attached to the alternator and is flat. it doesn't drive anything so there is nothing attached to it other than the bracket.
It has a timing chain and gears. NO BELT.
No belt. It has chain and gears.
It has a timing chain, NO BELT
timing belt
loosen the tent ion on the pulley and the belt should slide off easily
timing chain
there is a spring loaded tensioner. all you need is a wrench, like a 15 or 16mm. some are a little different but the concept is the same.
No you can not, It is kept tight by a spring loaded belt tensioner with a smooth pulley on it. Probley needs a belt tensioner on it.
Remove the serpentine belt and remove the alternator. The belt tensioner bolts are under the alternator.
It does not HAVE a timing belt. It has a timing chain and it will most likey last the life of the engine.
Remove the belt, then remove the bolt in the center of the spring tensioner with a 15mm wrench, install new one
by placing a wrench on the tensioner pulley, and turning.
