Theres a lot involved in removing a transmission. If it is 4x4 you'll need to remove the 4x4 drive shaft and the main drive shaft by taking off the 4 bolts attached to the flange. Be sure to mark the possition of each drive shaft so you can put it back on exactly the same way it came off. Otherwise, you'll get a lot of vibration. Once the main drive shaft bolts are loose, slide the drive shaft into the tranny just a little and drop it down and pull it out.
You'll need to jack support your bell housing and your motor under the oil pan. (you'll need two jacks) put a block of wood on the motor jack to buffer the oil pan.
Remove the bolts around the bell housing.
Take down the chassis supports for clearance. If it is 4x4 you'll have to remove the torsion bars at the A-arms. and take off the torsion bar chassis support.
Disconnect all wiring and lines before pulling your tranny out.
Once all bolts are removed leave your jack under the tranny and pull it out toward the back of the vehicle.
You may want to drain the tranny fluid first by removing the plug to avoid a big mess.
If it is a 5 speed, you can remove the shifter boot to get to the top two bolts on the bell housing.

No you don't need to do either of those but you do need to disconnect the oil sending unit to be able to drop the starter out of the frame.
A manual transmission does not have an oil pan.

Remove the driveshaft. Remove the shifting linkage. Unbolt the transmission from the Bell housing. Remove the transmission mount bolts. Pull the transmission backwards, to remove it.
Remove transmission and replace front seal.
