Why don't you get a magnetic-based antenna.
To remove the antenna and cable # Lower the glove box and disconnect the antenna cable connection # Remove the antenna mast # Loosen the right front wheel and inner fender splash shield # Remove the antenna base mounting bolt and detach the grommet and cable from the body, then lower the assembly from the front wheel opening
Remove the plastic cover from inside the wheel well to expose the antenna. Remove mounting bolt. To replace antenna purchase an antenna with an adapter. Cut old antenna wire at base and connect new antenna using the adapter.
Remove the door panel.Remove the bolt from the inside of the door that holds the handle on.
You would need to get a tool to remove the notched chrome piece that holds the antenna mast, or carefully use pliers to unscrew it out. After you remove that, the antenna itself is held by a 10mm bolt. to get to it you'll need to open up the trunk lining near the antenna location and remove that bolt. Then, pull the antenna far enough to disconnect the antenna wire and power. Assuming the antenna motor is still functional, you can then replace the antenna mast with a new one. Or, you can install an aftermarket rubber antenna.

No. A mercury tracer is similar to the ford escort and they have a different bolt pattern altogether than a focus. While they look very close, there is just enough difference that they will not fit. Mercury tracers have a 4x100mm bolt pattern and a ford focus has 4x108mm.
Remove the bolt holding it in Place
