Step 1: There is a long piece of plastic under the seat on the left side. Remove it.
To remove it, turn the nickel-sized, notched circle that is near the bottom of the long plastic piece. A big flat head screwdriver will do. This unlocks the plastic, so you just have to jostle it out after that.
Step 2: There is now an exposed bolt that you can see holding the seat to the frame. Remove the bolt and you are done.
Now you can get to the battery, which is probably what you were trying to do.
(Some people say you have to do the same thing on the other side, but on mine it is only on the left, from the perspective of someone sitting on the bike.)

∙ 14y agothere is a spot in the back next to the rear light where you turn the key and it should release the seat and you just pull it up.

∙ 9y agoThe 1994 Yamaha motorcycle seat is held on with four retaining bolt. Remove the retaining bolts and the seat will come off.
