Removing a air filter on a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 is not so easy to do and will take some time. You will have to take off the seat to reach the air filter, then you will unscrew the cover and take out the air filter and replace it with a new one.
if you check the back of the filter case there should be 2-3 bolts on the back that holds the cover in place. when you remove them the cover will come off. you can also find parts break down at kawasaki web site.
Remove the screw that is under the cover... which is hard to see if you are not looking for it. Then the rest of it is pretty basic.
Remove the top to the air cleaner housing. Pull the old air filter out. Install the new air filter and put the top back on.

The drain plug on a 1981 Virago 750 on the underneath part of the radiator. You will need to remove a bolt to drain it.
