Well that would depend on the year of the truck. They are all different. But if you look around the belt you'll find it eventualy, and then take the belt off. The next step is easy; just remove ALL bolts that hold on the tentioner/brackets. It's not rocket science. Look for bolts then take them off. Thus removing the tentioner, go figure!
where is the tensioner for the serpentine belt on a 2004 ford ranger
Release the pressure on the belt tensioner and belt should slide off pulleys
Pry it with a breaker bar
Mounted with "left-hand" thread
There is no adjustment, they use a belt tensioner to keep it tight. If it is loose it need to be replaced.
Loosen the tensioner pulley. Put the fan belt around the pulleys. Pry the tensioner pulley to the right until the belt is tight. Tighten the tensioner pulley nut.
spring loaded tensioner does not get tightened. id belt is loose either the belt is stretched and needs replacing, or the tensioner is worn out and needs replacing
Use a breaker bar in the belt tensioner to relax tension and then remove/replace belt
the best way is use a breaker bar & cheater pipe & loosen tensioner remove belt be careful spring loaded go the same way to reinstall
Disconnect the battery. Rotate the belt tensioner to release the belt. Have a helper remove the belt while holding the tensioner. Replace the belt, putting the new one on over the pulleys in the same direction. The tensioner can now be released.
Serpentine belt replacement: (1)rotate the tensioner counterclockwise (2.3, 2.5 and 4.0 engines) or clockwise (3.0 engine) to lift it off the belt. Slip the belt off the pulleys. (2)Hold the tensioner in the released position. Install a new belt and make sure it is routed correctly. Be sure the ribs of the new belt engage the pulley ribs correctly. Release the tensioner. Manual adjustment is not required, it is done automatically by the tensioner. - Haynes Repair Manual Ford Ranger 1993 - 2005.
# Install belt on to all pulleys except belt tensioner # Using the extension insert it into the belt tensioner and push away from you.Carefully install the ribbed belt on the tensioner and slowly allow the extension to move toward you as tension is placed on the belt # Remove extension from belt tensioner and inspect the belt to be sure it is seated correctly on all the pulleys if not remove belt and reinstall
