I think. (but not sure) you can use amsoil series 2000 chain case lube.

with a pair of pliers
There are two large bolts -one next to the brake caliper the other next to the chain - simply loosen those bolts and rotate the axle. The chain will tighten up or loosen up depending on which way you turn it.
buy the clymer manual first. there are clips on the inside of the cups remove them press the Ujoint out of the yoke. someone told me you need to install the rear drive shafts with the yokes/u joints the same on both sides lined up. Mine were from the factory. thanks

can some one please help iwant to remove astarter from polaris 425 quad many thanks Hi. If you still need help I recently removed my starter from a 2000 polaris xpedition 425. It's actually quite easy. First remove the seat, then you should be able to pop loose the side panels and remove them. Once you can get in there there should be two bolts holding it to the rest of the engine, and one holding on a positive wire, go ahead and remove those and it should slide out. Mine stuck a bit, but you just have to work with it.
easy answer would be to fallow the haynes book. step by step. 1 drain the radiator. 2 remove the cover on the radiator. 3 remove the radiator. 4remove the intake manifold. 5 remove the belts. 6 remove the hermonic balancer. 7 remove the ideler pulley next to the PS pump. 8 remove the timing chain cover. 9 remove the valve cover. 10 remove the timing chain tenchener. 11 then you should be able to remove the chain. then put the engine back together.
