As far as I know this is a diagnostic plug in only, my 2002 93 cab throws the light on occasionally especially when on cruise, the boost sensor code comes up when plugged in, the sensor has been replaced and the dump valve (which is a common fault). The running is not effected but it is aggravating. Fortunately for me I have a Saab specialist in Chelmsford who are very helpful and have reset it three times foc. May be worth replacing the small vacumn pipes to the dump valve and boost sensor as these can become weak and brittle over time, other than that I love the car. good luck!
**Remove the check engine light by going in through the left/drivers side speaker and pull the bulb. This is not OBDII so it is not needed for inspections.

Check engine
No, the check engine light has nothing to do with the oil level in the vehicle. The check engine light will come on when there is a problem with the emission system. The red oil warning light will come on if your vehicle is low on oil.
