Pull out the ashtray and remove it. From the passenger seat side reach behind the lighter unit and pull the connector (two cables, line and ground. Before you proceed you might want to check if you have voltage on these cables. Don´t forget to put the key in the ACC position). Now stick your left thumb in the lighter socket, turning gently. Push on the back of the unit with your right hand. Might be a bit hard in an old Previa. The socket will slide almost all the way out. To remove it completely keep turning it until the retainer is in line with the groove in the plastic ring. The socket will now pop out.
