Most early Chevis dash pads are held in place by attached studs that go through slots on metal dash panel. There should be about 7 of these with 7/16 or 3/8 nuts. Reach up under, feel for studs and use deep socket to remove. Most will be thread cutting nuts which cut the threads in studs first time they are used. You have to be careful if you reuse so they use the same and don't cut new threads weakening the studs. You will see what I mean once you get them off.
