If it is an small accidental amount it might be posible to remove it with absorbent socks available from west marine or anywhere that they sell contamination mitigation supplies. The well would have to be big enough in diameter to accept the sock and it would have to be something like a fuel can fell over in the pump house type of accident. This is not likely to remove 100% but a very high percentage can be recovered like that. If it is leaching into the well from some other source it is not likely that a long term permanent solution is viable. There are also enzimes avalable that can aid the process but once things are completed you would need to test the water.

If anything contaminates the water, it would really not be good to use. It would best if you boiled water you got out of a well you aren't certain about drinking from.The above contributor neglected to mention that boiling the water will not remove heavy metals or things like arsenic from well water.True, true. Most artesian water is quite pure but all Well water should be tested before drinking.
