My mirror supplier and installer says that it can be done with a plumber's torch used to soften and peel off the mastic, if done very, very carefully. A blow dryer isn't hot enough. I have not tried this myself.

Try WD-40 and, if it will not loosen the adhesive, use a sharp chisel to GENTLY scrape it off.
get a mirror kit from auto parts storeor you can simply get adhesive especially for auto windows...you have to remove the mounting plate from the mirror stem and glue that back to the window. Once that has dried, you can put the mirror back on the mounting plate. If the mirror has electrical wires, you will need to detach and re-attach as needed.ANS2 - the best adhesive is the 'Loctite' Auto Mirror Adhesive, available in many auto parts stores.
