Remove the retaining ring from the top of your 2000 Mercedes-Benz ignition lock cylinder. Slide the ignition lock cylinder out and remove the wiring harness.
give it a fast push down then prise up, it is an electric lock
Remove the door panel, remove the lower side of the window channel, remove door lock mechanism. remove the black plastic cover help by 2 screws, then remove the black plastic door lock unit, with the connector on it, and replace. You can pry the unit open and replace the electric motor in it.
Could be the electric lock solenoid, or the electric lock mechanism itself.
first remove the steering wheel then the lock plate. If it has air bag pull the fuse and be careful as just a static electric spark can deploy the bag. Then take the turn signal switch off, remove the key reminder contacts and there is a screw that goes right beside the lock ass. Remove it and pull the lock out. You have to use special tools for the steering wheel and lock plate rentable at the parts store
A 1/2" drive impact wrench (air or electric) would do the trick.

i think that the back seat comes out of this vehicle.......remove it, and crawl thru to the trunk and pull the release lever
It sounds like a problem with the little electric motor that controls the lock on that door. you'll have to remove the door panel to get at it in order to check it.
you have to remove the steering wheel then using a lock plate removal tool depress the lock plate and removed the clip that holds it in place then remove the lock plate then remove the screws from the turn signal switch and pull it up slightly then remove the screw that hold the lock cylinder in place then remove the lock assembly
