Need to know if the vehicle has rear disc brakes or drum brakes and which part of the e-brake system you want to remove, front cable, rear cables, e-brake linings, etc.
How do you adjust the emergency brake on your 2001 S10 Chevy?
The brake indicator light is for the EMERGENCY break, release this break.
Really ain't no fixing a brake cable. Replace it with a new cable.
Remove the two screws in the lens. You can remove the entire assembly once you do this.
Jack up and safely support front of vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove front brake calipers and hang them with wire so not to damage brake hoses. Remove brake caliper brackets. Remove brake rotors. Rotors may need a little persuasion with a large hammer as they may be stuck/rusted in place. Reverse order to install rotors.
it is behind the glove box.
Sure, in an emergency but, you will have poor heat and the check engine light will illuminate.
You didn't mention what year the S10 is but, you can probably remove the 2 small screws that hold the lens to the housing and you will have access to the bulbs.
There should be a lever down by the brake pedal. it will look kind of like a gear with a tab on it. that lever releases the parking brake. just be careful not to let the parking brake pedal smack you in the face....
95 chev S10 emergency brake cable does not reach to attach front cable to rear cable. I have adjusted nut as far as it will go and am still 2' short to join the front and rear cables.
Remove the wheel, remove the brake caliper, remove the brake rotor, disconnect wheel speed sensor from harness. remove the bearing hub, remove the wheel speed sensor from the bearing hub. Reverse order for install.
Remove wheel, remove the bolt holding brake hose to the caliper, remove the two pins that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket using a 3/8" allen wrench, remove caliper. Inspect brake pads and brake hose for damage, replace if necessary. Install new brake caliper in reverse order. Bleed system.
