depending on the raido, there is a special tools, there shaped like a u. you can get them at most parts stores.
Either behind the factory radio or under the passenger side kick panel

Remove the retaining cover from your factory stereo. Remove the factory stereo retaining bolts. Slide the factory stereo out. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable from the back of the factory stereo.
Use a small flathead screwdriver to remove the trim surrounding the radio unit. The trim has clips holding it in place, but can easily be pried loose. Once the trim is removed, use a phillps head srewdriver to remove the 4 mounting screws holding the stereo unit in place.

Purchase a Ford Removal tool from Best Buy for $10.00. There are two holes on each front side of the radio. Just inserting a coat hanger will not work. Insert the new removal tool and you may have to pry from the sides with a flat screwdriver.

I have a 1991 G20, and the radio suddenly quit working; the FSM specifically indicates a FUSE at the back of the radio head unit. but even at VERY close scrutiny i.e. disassembling the radio, no fuse could be located.

You need to remove the spindle and press out the ball joints & press in new ones
1. very carefully! Remove the ash tray and the ash tray bracket. 2. Remove the AC vents. They are held in by tabs that must be pulled towards the center of the vent. 3.Then you can pull the plastic piece that covers the radio. It is fastened with several pop-in devices. 4.Then use a pair of extractor tools to remove the radio by inserting the tools and pushing out towards the doors while pulling.
