After you take off the face plate, you need a removal tool to remove the stereo. If you dont have one, get tweezers, break them in two pieces, and shove the two prongs into the inserts on the side of the stereo. Slowly manuever the stereo out.
On my 1987, you just pull up on the fuse. Yet on other models I have noticed that the fuse and its (2) prongs are of the same. what I mean is that if you undo the positive terminal to where this fuseable link is attached too. Turn the wire to where you can see the two bolts. you must completely remove these bolts from each side. To remove the copper wire from its plastic case, push downward on the copper prongs from the top veiw. They should come out easly. Then with a "new" fuse(one with these prongs attached)push downward thru the top of the plastic ( be carefull while pushing as prongs will easliy bend and or break).Make sure that the prongs are going into each in their own slot . re- install bolts then attach to battery. Your done.
You can do it but be careful not to break the prongs
Its the part in the steering column that allows the wires to spin without tangling. Some have loose wires inside it which is more common to break for obvious reasons and others have metal prongs that go in a circle this one looks alot like a dirt board when taken apart.
You should take it to a jeweler if one of the prongs breaks to avoid inflicting further damage.
