To remove the headlight on the mx-3 you must unbolt the front bumper, loosen all 4? bolts and disconnect the headlight wiring. The whole unit should just pull right off.

I just had to repair the front bumper and headlight of my 08 Mazda 3 and the total cost was around $1600 at the dealership through my insurance.
Remove Front Grille. Remove Electrical Connectors. Remove Bolts (3 ea). Pull out Headlight Assembly.
you have to remove the black plastic cover over the headlight and there are 3 tent lik stacks you pull up an out and your headlight is out

remove the cover across the the front of the radiator should be 3 screws once you have done that you will see 3 metal pins sticking down in the headlight remove and headlight should come right out
If the manual is the same as the 2007 Mazda 3, its pretty comprehensive. Basically pull the rubber booty, twist the bulb, remove the bulb. There is a sub-assembly attached to the bulb that you have to remove and put on the new bulb. Attach the wire, twist into the housing, put the rubber booty back on...you're good to go.
