I would say counterclockwise to remove it.
You turn the valve cap anti-clockwise!
Turn counter clockwise to remove.Turn counter clockwise to remove.
Turn it counter clockwise.
push down, and turn counter clockwise
Usually, the oil cap is screwed on; to unscrew it, turn it counter-clockwise.
tack hammer back of head, or try twisting it counter clockwise, your choice

Hi There, If the filler cap is designed like a medicine bottle and says 'click' on the top, I think you are supposed to push down and then turn. I had problems with this too. I don't see why Ford needed to make something so simple this complicated. Anyway, I discovered that you need to turn it in the opposite direction to conventional screws. Instead of 'left loose, right tight' the Mondeo's filler caps work 'right loose, left tight'. Hope this helps, Martin
Counter-clockwise rotation.
The fill port cap is on top of the transaxle. It is red, about the size of a golf ball. It is threaded into the transaxle and you to turn it counter clockwise to remove it.
Turn the cap counter-clockwise and pull it off. If it's like mine, you may have to push slightly while turning.
remove the cap then remove the bottom radiator hose and try to catch the flood of anti freeze with a bucket.
