There is no need to remove the axle hub. The parking brake cable needs to be released and disconnected from the back of the brakes, and the caliper removed. I had to knock rotors off from behind with a big hammer and a block of wood. Place the block of wood on the disc in the rear side and hit the wood pretty hard, then do the same on the front side of the disc (as best you can). If you have a "dead-blow" hammer, this works almost as well. A rubber mallet doesn't have the mass to knock things loose. It's a game of "shocking" the disc from the back side until all the rusty crud falls off and the disc finally works its way loose.
The fun part begins when you try to install the park-brake shoes behind a plate. I talked to a mechanic and he said there are no special tools or shortcuts, the shoes are just a bear to install. Good luck and mentally prepare for 4-6 hours per wheel.
