Though the procedure is covered in the proper manual for your model, disconnect negative terminal on battery, place a drain pan under the primary and remove primary cover, bend locking tab on starter drive and remove bolt, then proceeding to other side of the bike remove the big wire on the main post of the starter, pull the spade connector from the starter and take the two bolts out of the housing that bolt into the inner primary and remove. Replacement in reverse

Its located on the outside of the wheel well, behind the oil bag... a wire runs from your starter directly to the relay, which is a small inch squared black box.
