The screws that hold the tail light in place are accessible only after you raise the hatchback or lower the tailgate. the screws are usually TORX drive
Open the tail gate and look inside at the side of the bed where the lights are on the side of the bed and you will see 2 small phillp screews. Remove them and the light will come out.
