The ECM on a 1998 Pontiac Transport with the 3.4 V6 engine is located on the passenger side. It is behind the glove box.
Both engines that are available in the sunfire are electrically controlled timing. You do not need to do anything to sett the timing, the ECM does all the work.
Under the dash, left side you will have to remove the close out panel.

Were is ecm on 1998 Crown i.
The ECM is located behind the glove box. Remove the glove box door. You'll see the ECM. Disconnect the battery. Remove the three plugs on the bottom of the ECM. There are 4 nuts that hold the ECM in. They are 10mm. Remove them and pull out the ECM. Install is just the reversal. Remember to take your PROM from the old ECM and put it in the new one. New ones don't come with the PROM and it's highly probable that a used one will have the wrong PROM installed as each one is programmed to each specific car.
The ECM is located on the driver's side, under the hood on a 2003 Pontiac Montana. It is on the driver's inner fender.
no
right front wheel well , between inner fender and bumper.
Under the Front Passanger side wheel well. You'll need to take off the Plastic Covers inside the wheel well, but only the front two plastic pieces inside the well.
The ecm is located behind the "glove box", in the center console between the seats.
It's located behind the glove box. First, remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Remove the glove box door. There are four 10mm nuts that mount the ECM to a plastic bracket....one at each corner. Remove these. Pull the ECM out and unplug it. There is a cover plate on the ECM mounted with two screws. Remove these screws and remove the plate. The PROM chip is mounted here and you'll want to reuse it. Most rebuilt ECMs will not come with this chip. Also, each chip is programmed for the particular car it goes in. With or without air, auto or manual....etc. Install the chip in the new ECM and the rest is reverse procedure.
