Remove the belt itself first. Then, in the center of the tensioner is usually a 15mm head bolt that secures it to the engine. There is a locating pin on the back, to align it properly when installed. Make sure the pin is located properly before you tighten down the new one.
there is no repair for a belt tensioner. just buy a new tensioner. remove old belt, remove old tensioner, it is held on with one bolt. install new tensioner. install new belt
Remove surpentine belt,then take out bolt that goes through tensioner to engine.
Remove belt and tensioner complete should be able to be unbolted from engine (Left-hand thread)
Put a ratchet on the tensioner pulley bolt... set your ratchet on "loosen" turn the tensioner pulley and assembly upword... hold it there and remove the belt... DO NOT LET GO OF THE RATCHET AFTER YOU REMOVE THE BELT slowly let the tensioner pulley move back to a resting position...
Remove the serpentine belt and remove the alternator. The belt tensioner bolts are under the alternator.
use tensioner to loosen belt. Using a socket, remove the old tensioner..put the new one on and if you were careful, you should be able to slip belt right back in place.

Remove the belt, Remove one bolt out of the fulcrum part of the tensioner and remove the tensioner; reverse the precedure.
The belt tensioner is rotated clock wise with a 15 mm wrench or belt tool.
The belt tensioner is automatic and does not need manual adjustment. Put a 15mm socket on the tensioner nut and push downward a few times. The internal tensioning spring should put it back into the tight position on the belt again. If it does not, then the tensioner needs replacement.
you will need a belt tensioner set, it has a belt tensioner tool and a bolt/nut that needs to be placed in the correct spot, bolt ususally goes on the belt tensioner pulley. after u have placed the bolt on the belt tensioner pully. use the belt tensioner tool to create slack on the belt by pulling it to the right. then u should just be able to take belt off. might need 2 people
