Just did this on wife's 2000. It is a TWO TOOL, ONE CIGAR job. 1. Get TWO plastic putty knives/spackling appliers. 2. Carefully, but smartly, insert one between the front panel of the "oval" MoPar radio face plate and the bezel on either (both) sides of the radio. 3. Just worry the little rascal (bezel) off, appplying opposite pressure to each side in turn, until it pops out. Now you have access to the two hex head or Pillips screws which hold the MoPar radio two the vehicle. Remove these, minding the wires amd antenna cable at the back. There are no hidden fasteners or surprises. Replacement is the reverse. Smack the bezel with the flat of your hand in lieu of a VERY small and VERY soft rubber mallet. Hand is as good as a mallet and won't scratch. Don' forget to reset the TIME on the radio. It just took you longer to read this than it will take you to do the job.

You will need to fix the sensor or the wiring to it.

The junction box in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on the passenger side. It is located on the front side kick panel.
Under the glove box, there is a panel, I think you need a 7mm socket. Remove the panel and there it is.
Detach the negative battery cable. Remove the bezel to get access to the control head and remove its screws. Remove the control panel. Pry the clips free. Disconnect cables from the heater. Install the new control panel.
This is not a correct answer. wjjeeps.com deals with 1999 and above only. this site shows how: http://www.wjjeeps.com/doors/doorpanel.htm
