recommendations on older models suggest using a flathead screwdrive to pry off the faceplate to gain access to the stereo which is held in by 6 screws as far as I know. I'm still looking for answers myself.
On the Impreza 2008 2.5I,pry off the lower face plate (with the HVAC controls),it is easier to start prying by the glove compartment(be gentel),you do not have to completely remove this face plate just loosen it till you have room to pry off the radio face plate(as it is cliped under the other faceplate),there you will have access to the 4 Phillips screws!!!!!!!!
Tools needed:
-Flat head screwdriver
-Phillips screwdriver
