You have to remove the fuel tank. First, remove the spare tire and the cross member bolted to the frame below the fuel tank. Next remove the swaybar end- link brackets that are bolted to the frame, as the fuel tank will not clear them on the way out. Drain the tank of fuel, there is a 17mm plug on the bottom of the tank. Disconnect all of the vent lines @ the right rear quarter next to the fuel filler hose, and the filler hose as well. The two lines at the front of the tank go to the fuel sending unit and you must be extremely careful when removing the rubber hoses from the lines. A new assembly is near impossible to find. Once all the lines have been disconnected, support the tank and remove the straps that hold it in place. There is plenty of slack in the wiring to the level sending unit and the fuel pump, so you should be able to hang the tank down a few feet to disconnect them. You might need a prybar to coax the tank out.
