All that is required to restart a 2006 Cummins is to add fuel and crank the engine. The fuel system is self bleeding.
What engine do you have? 3.8 v6 engine. fuel pump is behind the power steering pump on the drivers side of the engine. V8 engines the fuel pump is on the passenger side front of the engine Remove any belt driven accesories that would be in the way of the fuel pump. Remove the fuel lines then remove the 2 bolts securing the pump to the engine block.
You remove the fuel tank.
For 2006 + it's in the Fuel Tank & you need to remove the tank to have access to it...

The best way is to remove the fuel filter and fill it with fuel.
In most vehicles you can remove the fuel pump fuse or fuel pump relay as the engine is running, the engine will stall when the pressure is gone.
While engine is running remove the fuel pump fuse. Engine will run out of fuel when pressure drops.
The fuel filter is located in a canister in the engine compartment. It is located under the brake booster and master cylinder. You simply unscrew the cap and remove the filter.
You have to remove the gas tank, Then remove the sending unit in the top of the tank. That will be were the fuel filter is located.
