The fuel filter on a 1996 Honda Passport is located underneath the vehicle close to the gas tank. The filter will have bolts holding it in.

Follow the fuel lines from the front to the fuel tank. The fuel pump is connected to the tank. You'll have to remove the tank to remove the pump. Follow the fuel lines from the front to the fuel tank. The fuel pump is connected to the tank. You'll have to remove the tank to remove the pump.
mine is 1998 passport, and replaced my fuel filter recently. It is an external filter next to the fuel tank located below the driver seat.
If you crawl under the truck on the drivers side you'll see the fuel tank. If you look between the fuel tank and the body you'll see the fuel filter.
The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. If you will look just above the fuel tank in the trunk or under the rear seat you may find an access panel. Remove that panel and you can remove the fuel pump without removing the fuel tank from the vehicle. If there is no access panel the fuel tank must be removed.
Unless there is an access panel in the vehicle above the fuel tank you must remove the fuel tank. Look and I think you will find a panel to access the pump.
fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, so you will need to remove the fuel tank to get to the fuel pump. It might be easier to simply lift up the carpet over the fuel tank and remove the 4 screws to a floor access cover. Remove the cover, and there it is.
If you are removing the tank to replace the fuel pump stop. There is an access panel inside the car just above the fuel pump location. Remove that panel and you can get to the pump.
the gas capacity on my 2000 Honda passport is 21 gallons.
