You've gotta have the special "key"...
You can use a "torx" screwdriver. I forget which size exactly, but they are commonly available, and much less expensive than the "key".
the car originally came with a torx style ratchet wrench to remove the top...if not refer to the owners manual......
There are 4 bolts, 2 in front & 2 in back. You need the tool to remove the bolts.
Drain the water from your 1988 Chevy Corvette cooling system. Remove the water supply hose from the top of your thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing bolts. Remove the thermostat. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
The 1996 corvette does not have a T Top.

remove the screws on the inside fender well, take out the bolt in the top of the louvered panel, pull panel out slide battery out.
