Removing and reinstalling the lock cylinder isn't difficult ... but neither is it obvious. All you'll need is a very small flat-blade screwdriver (or a sturdy paper clip).
Keep in mind there are 3 pieces to the assembly:
a. The lock cylinder (inside the glove compartment)
b. The handle
c. The escutcheon (not visible when the lock is installed)
1. Pull up the latch on the lock cylinder to the latched position. This is the hook-shaped piece of flat metal at the inner end.
2. Just inside the plastic of the inner glove compartment, look for a small (about 1/8") flat tab that is perpendicular to the lock cylinder assembly. Press this tab down. This will release the outer handle from the cylinder.
3. Begin unthreading the lock cylinder from the escutcheon, until it comes loose.
Reinstalling is pretty much the reverse of above. You'll have to work out a way to tighten the escutcheon onto the cylinder, once the tab on the outer edge of the cylinder is held from moving by the notch on the glove compartment plastic.
The inner bore of the escutcheon is hex-shaped, but it's too big for a 3/8" ratchet and too small for a 1/2" one.I used a set of snap-ring pliers set to push outward when you squeezed the handles.
