I would see if you can get a strand of piano wire or a guitar sting (the unwound "E" string) and see about poking it through in the front corner/elbow or try running it through the back seals where the tailgate closes to the top and carefully run it down the sides , cutting the sealant with the wire. There is a tool for cutting windows out of cars that might work that is a thin wire strung between two dowel handles. You will only get about three or four inches from the rear corners before hitting an alignment pin that goes into a hole in the fiberglass top to help line it up. You'll either need to poke it back through there or start at another place where you can get the wire through. I would be more careful to be sure and cut the sealant and seals than slip up and mess up the paint on the bed. Plan on replacing all of the seals. You probably should go ahead and purchase all of the cab seals at LMC Truck, Brothers Trucks, or elsewhere before you do this because it will probably tear up all of the seals. It's 20 years old, so they might be worn/torn/oxidized anyway. Remember, they previous owner took the top off and glued it on for a reason! Might be because he trashed the seals and it leaked badly. Replace all of the seals at once!! Don't wait and say "I'll do the bottom/top/sides, etc. later" or you'll end up like me, waiting for a good time to pull the top off and finish.
