How do you take off a door panel on a 97 f150?

Remove Interior Door panel Mazda TruckI can answer this question for a 1999 B3000 Mazda Truck. I just figured it out. It was extremely easy. My purpose for removing my inside door panel was to replace the side view driver's side mirror.

There are four screws that need to be removed. Two of them hold the plastic trim(yours could be cloth covered) that is around the opening lever mechanism for the door. But before you can remove that piece of trim you will have to remove the crank handle for the window. TO remove the crank handle- The handle itself is "capped" by a piece of plastic that when pryed upon will pop part of the way off. Where the crank handle meets the door panel, get a firm grip with your hand and tug on it gently. BE CAREFUL! as the piece of plastic cap over the handle will not come all the way off. You need only remove it enough to push it to the side a few inches so you can access the Allen screw that is running through the handle and securing it to the mechanizm that rotates and cranks the window up and down.

The little round piece that you grab to spin your window crank and the cap piece of plastic that covers the handle itself do not completley separate.

Once you pop that piece of plastic trim off enough to access the Allen screw- simply remove the Allen screw. This will allow the large plastic trim piece to come off easily.

There is a thrid screw at the bottom of the door facing the interior of the truck if the door was closed. You can't miss it. Mine was shiny:) Remove it.

THere is a fourth screw that will be instantly exposed as soon as you get the crank handle off and remove the big plastic trim piece.

Remove that fourth screw and you will be able to simply lift that entire inside door panel right off the frame. Good LuckPaul in Phoenix, AZ

Almost all cars are the same in this respect. Remove all screws holding in the plastic around the door handle. Remove the screws holding on your grab bars on the door, remove the lock pull if it is larger at the top than the rest of the rod.

Once all screws are out, just pop it off all the way around. It has the plastic inserts that just stick in the holes when pressed in, can be pulled out and replced no problem.

When I was rebuilding my 2001 Ranger Edge extended cab, we had to put new doors on. There are several (about a dozen) of the "push pins" that will have to be loosened and removed. Be as careful with these as possible so that you can reuse them later. You will also have to remove the seatbelt. If I remember correctly, that requires a torx socket. The seatbelt should be removed first. After that, the door panel should come right off. Good Luck.

the door panels are easy... there are two torx head screws and 3 Phillips head screws. Two of the Phillips are located at the bottom of the panel, one is located at the top, closest to the front of the door, right about where your mirror is on the outside. you will see the hole, the screw is deep set. One torx head screw is located right behind the interior pull handle that lets you pull the door shut. the other is a little hidden. You have to pull the latch handle (the one that actually opens the door) open and its behind that. look closely, its kind of hard to see. once you have all bolts out, grab the big handle set in the middle of the panel and pull up. the panel should come away from the door with a little finesse, and then you just have to disconnect the wirse for any automatic lock or window controls, and disengage the handle from the latch bar. no idea about the rear panels.

Use a screwdriver, remove the screws and the clips in the door panel , and remove the panel slowly. Remove the wiring connections and pull the panel off the rest of the way.
