Similar thing happened to me...I'd hit the signal lights and the instrument cluster went do-lally. Here's my fix that will help you: add another ground wire from the back of the instrument cluster to a ground source. To do this...pop out the instrument cluster (it's held in by a rubber gasket and can be worked free) and wiggle it out a bit. For this you don't have to remove the steering wheel but doing so makes it less of a tight squeeze. Next add a wire from the screw at the corner of the speedometer backplate to a ground source. Pop the cluster back in and you should be good to go.
