For the latest Yahoo news module layout use the following element filter by clicking on "Add Filter" in the Ad-Block Plus preferences menu. Then click "Apply":
yahoo.com#*(connHubPageContainer)
This will filter everything from the greeting "Hello xyz" to the end of the news module.
For the somewhat older news module the following filter worked
