I was told by oil change guy @ Landers Toyota in Little Rock that the metal clip will turn out of the way as you unscrew the
plastic cap. Alleged. Be gentle in putting pressure on cheap
plastic. My experience is it breaks easily. A $18900 car &
Toyota puts cheap plastic on oil filter. All my life, I drove Ford & GM cars. I buy Toyota 06 Camry & 10 Corolla & get cheap crap. So much for quality? & reliability? James Evans, Little Rock.
The filter is in a filter housing. Remove the plug in the bottom of the housing. The filter housing is then loosened using a specific wrench for that housing type.

The Oil Filter on this car is what is called a "clip-in" filter the way you remove it is to simply have the correct sized wrench, and remove the Cap and the filter should come with it.
