First you need to disconnect the negative cable to prevent a fire or heavy shock. Next, if memory serves me on that particular model the battery is in the trunk or under the rear seat and the cable depending on location of the battery is either one long cable going directly to the battery or on some if you remove the nameplate on the floor door jambs they have a junction block on the passenger side, either way it's a tough little job.
Battery is located on the passeger side. Remove the air filter that covers it. Remove negative cable on left side of battery. Then remove positive cable on right. Then remove battery drain tube on left side of battery. Remove two nuts on positive side of battery on clamp that secures it to vehicle. Remove battery and replace with new one. Then secure battery clamp with two nuts remove. Then replace drain tube, positive and then negative cables. Last replace air filter over battery.

The battery post positive terminal is where you connect the positive cable. Connect the negative cable to anyplace on the engine or chassis. Connect positive first and remove it last.
