The exploding shell is older than the cannon. Among the first uses of gunpowder was to create bombs or grenades- a casing filled with gunpowder and a fuse. This could be thrown, catapulted, slung, etc. Early cannon used shot (solid projectiles) or shell (hollow, gunpowder filled). In the Star Spangled Banner, the term "bombs bursting in air" refers to an exploding shell.
In order for a shell to explode, it must have some sort of detonation trigger. Thus trigger is usually called a fuse. The most common reason for a shell to NOT explode was a faulty fuse. Millions of fuses were made during the war, and some percentage of these fuses had manufacturing defects in them. These defects were small enough to be missed during quality checks, but still large enough to cause the fuse to malfunction and fail to ignite. In other cases, the fuse itself had a faulty design, and would frequently fail to detonate, even when properly manufactured. The US Mark 14 torpedo of the early war years was a prime example. Other problems with the fuse, such as poor storage and maintenance, could also lead it to malfunction and fail to detonate. Even if the fuse ignited, it was still possible for the main explosive charge to fail to detonate, for reasons similar to why the fuse wouldn't go off (manufacturing defects, poor storage or maintenance, bad design, etc.).
RADAR, SONAR, the proximity fuse,
In factories. The bomb casings were made from steel forgings. They were hollow, filled with explosives, had tail fins to guide them, and a fuse to explode them.
Nowhere. Landmines are illegal explosive devices in virtually all countries. Private individuals or entities cannot legally acquire landmines. They are available for government (military) procurement and use ONLY. The outer shell of a landmine can sometimes be purchased at various online war-replica artifact stores. You might find demilitarized ones at your local army surplus store. This will include NONE of the explosives, fragmentation, or fuse parts of landmines.
Get the correct fuze wrench and remove carefully, DO NOT DROP.
Do not attempt to do this! Call your local police! If you were trained in ordnance disposal, you would not have to ask.
i think your about to go kaboom!
You should probably take it to the police.
I hope you are talking about an inert practice shell. I assume you would need a fuse wrench for that model fuse.
The inside of an artillery shell is filled with high explosives. At the tip of the shell there is a fuse. When the fuse hits a solid surface it ignites the main charge, causing the shell to explode.
this is a highly complex issue becuasu the bulb is the important part of a lamp. so i personally feel after much research and condsideration i feel that i bulb with a 75mm fuse would be highly reccommended :) thankyou for testing my knowledge.
Identify the fuse. Remove it
needel nose pliers in the middle of the fuse.
Is there a fuse I can remove for the ford explorer tire sensor
Remove the fuse from the fuse box. Or remove the relay.
Not if that component requires electricity, which it probably does or it wouldn't have a fuse. If you remove a fuse, no electricity can flow through the circuit.
