Assuming it's a single knob push-pull, Price Pfister S74-292 "Avante" which I believe is the only one Price Pfister made/makes:
1. Turn off water supply.
2. Remove button, screw and knob.
3. Remove wall flange and sleeve.
4. Unscrew threaded chrome collar with an adjustable wrench.
5. Note position of cartridge tab - up or down - for inserting replacement.
6. Grab the stem with Channel Lock pliers and pull it out.
This is difficult to answer. What is needed is the make up of what you see, is it an internal or external unit, are there any obstructions and what material is it made of.

Generally, the handle needs to be removed either by popping a single tab off the center of the handle, or removing a set screw from the side. Once the handle is removed, there will be a plastic ring through which the center post connects the handle to the valve. This black ring and be pulled out, and rotated to raise or lower the maximum temperature setting.

My understanding is that you need a special tool for $20 to $30. After reading I have not repaired mine yet. I am still checking for solutions on the web. It may be you have a different type and need to turn the stem out being careful if it sticks you could ruin the threads. In my last case I had to replace the entire valve because of corrosion anyway. As a home owner I chose to work from the back, drywall is a lot easier than tile.
