The pulley securing bolt is left hand thread. ie turn wrench clockwise,while standing at front, to undo bolt.
Remove the serpentine belt. Tensioner is below Alternator. Remove the three mounting bolts on the tensioner baracket assembly. Replace entire unit.
get a 1/2 drive rachet and a socket that fits the tentioner pully hand pull the pully to slack the belt pull the belt off and let the pully back in placethen you can loosen the nut ans tap the pully off if needed
Remove the Right wheel and inner plastic fender which will allow you access to the tensioner side of the motor. There will be a few bolts holding into place on the block. Remove the bolts and remove the entire tensioner assembly. Reverse for replacement.
Remove the center retaining nut on the tensioner. You will need to use something to jam the pulley, so it will not turn.
You will need to remove the front engine cover, on your 1997 Pontiac Bonneville, in order to change the supercharger belt. Loosen the tensioner pulley to remove the belt.
You remove the two bolts from the bottom.
Look in the engine compartment for the "serpentine belt" path & tensioner diagram. Release the belt tension at the tensioner, remove & reverse operation.
You use a long 3/8 rachet to move the tensioner on the fan belt so you can remove it. Then you remove the 4 bolts holding the fan pully on with a 10mm wrench,you may have to get someone to hold the fan still when your breaking bolts loose. Take bolts out of the fan Clutch to remove the fan blades. Buy new parts & install in reverse order.
Remove belt and tensioner should just be bolted to engine
You insert a 3/8 inch ratchet or breaker bar and pull back to release the tension. This way you can get a new belt on. Tensioner is self adjusting and needs no further attention.
Begin by removing the rear engine cover from your 1997 Land Rover Discovery. Remove the crankshaft sensor wiring harness. Remove the crankshaft sensor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new crankshaft sensor.
the tensioner is spring loaded,be very careful. why do you need to loosen it. its all about leverage if you need to remove the belt use a 3/8in ratchet in square hole near bottom of tensioner
